From the volunteers who saved it to the neighbours who bring it to life, Severndroog is run with heart
We are delighted to launch a new project exploring the rich and layered history of Severndroog Castle – and the many stories, memories and perspectives connected to it.
This project brings together historical research and community voices to develop a fuller and more inclusive understanding of the Castle’s past, its global connections, and what it means to people today.
You are warmly invited to the launch of a new project which is a collaboration between the Severndroog Castle Trust and the University of Hertfordshire aiming to reinterpret the Castle’s history, catalogue existing materials, and explore its meaning as a 21st-century community heritage site.
We are delighted to welcome Professor Peter D’Sena Professor of History and Education at the University of Hertfordshire to launch the project with an introductory talk:

As the project develops, activities will include:
· Informal talks and guided discussions
· Community story-gathering
· Opportunities to work with historic materials, photographs and archives
· Collaborative development of new interpretation for the site
We are particularly interested in uncovering stories that are not yet widely recorded – helping to bring together personal, local and global perspectivesand will soon be lunching an Oral historycollection activity
The Project is intended to be community-led, with academic support for workshops and research skills.

· Contribute ideas for how the Castle’s story is told in the future
· Get involved in research, archives and interpretation
