After decades of neglect and near-abandonment, Severndroog Castle was saved by a passionate group of local volunteers who refused to let it fade into history. Their determination led to an ambitious restoration project that brought the Castle back to life, preserving it for future generations and reopening its doors to the public in 2014. This is the story of how a community rescued a local treasure.
The Severndroog Castle Building Preservation Trust was formed by a group of local residents determined to save the Castle from private sale and preserve it for the public. Since 2003, the Trust has worked to protect this historic landmark, restore it to its former glory, and ensure it remains a space for education, community, and reflection. Today, the Trust continues to care for the Castle and its legacy, with the help of dedicated volunteers, donors, and supporters.
