Have you seen our lovely new flag flying over Severndroog Castle yet? We are so proud of it, we’d love you to drop by and catch a glimpse of the flag flying from the Castle roof.

Our new flag was designed by the talented children of Christ Church Primary School on Shooters Hill. Earlier this week, all 200 children from the school came up to the Castle for the raising of the new flag, presided over by Cllr Linda Bird, Mayor of Greenwich.

Also in attendance were representatives of Greenwich Libraries who will be exhibiting a selection of the designs by the children at Eltham Library shortly.

This autumn term, the whole school came to visit the Castle and had an inspiring assembly about flags from local artist Himani J Weir. Every child had the opportunity to submit a flag design to Severndroog, and this resulted in a collection of colourful, joyful drawings filled with meaning. Everyone at Severndroog Castle was thrilled with the work but, of course, this left the volunteer judging team with the almost impossible task of chosing just one to become our new flag! And, after careful deliberation, this beautiful design featuring the castle at the centre of a big heart was chosen, drawn for us by three talented boys in Yr 3 of Christ Church Primary School. We couldn’t be more proud and we hope you love it too!

A big thank you and a round of applause from all of us at Severndroog Castle for the children of Christ Church Primary School on Shooters Hill and their teachers👏👏👏
